Over the past several years, Sacramento has been at the forefront of community living by holding free fitness and wellness events. But in the first quarter of 2020, all these were shifted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, as the city’s new coronavirus cases have plummeted to dramatic lows over the past several weeks, public and private organizations are now slowly shifting to “live” but limited capacity events.
Below is a list of live and virtual Sacramento events that may interest you:
Beyond Breath – An Introduction to Sky Breath Meditation by The Art of Living Foundation (free online session)
This 75-minute introductory session called “Beyond Breath” can help you get rid of stress and anxiety through calming breathing techniques and guided meditation. Studies have shown that breathing techniques can improve blood flow to the brain, lower blood pressure, and improve the nervous system.
Make sure that you immediately contact the organizer because each session has limited spots to guarantee that each participant gets to enjoy an interactive experience.

COVID-FREE Bootcamp in the Park by Christina Rizzo
Organized by certified personal trainer Christina Rizzo, this free bootcamp is for anyone interested in getting physically active and losing weight naturally. All people are welcome here regardless of their fitness level; even seniors with mobility issues can participate in the event since the organizers will set up a chair section. (Note: All the attendees will be spaced at least six feet apart.)
The trainer specializes in circuit weight training, high intensity interval training, active aging adults programs, weight loss, and behavior development associated with fitness.
